Whether you are a member of the Business Improvement District, Old Town or an Associate Member, you can be assured that your membership in the Downtown Organization (DO) is contributing to the Downtown community, ensuring the future of Downtown as a thriving center for visiting, working, playing and entertaining.

Your Membership Dues are due annually at the beginning of the year and include:

Promotional Opportunities:
The Downtown Organization provides an array of programs, publications and events that provide your business with the opportunity bring more attention your way – and most of our programs are free for members.

Communication:
The DO keeps members informed of events, programs and City issues important to your business. The DO provides a bi-monthly electronic newsletter that highlights upcoming events and programs and features new businesses. We also keep you informed through Constant Contact email marketing. Email is the most economical and best tool for the DO to communicate with its members and provide you with easy, electronic information, links and downloadable forms most efficiently. Make sure the DO has your current email address on file and check your account often so you don’t miss out on important opportunities.

Assistance/Advocacy:
Members can count on the Downtown Organization to assist with issues important to Downtown business, advocating for economic vitality, safety and cleanliness. We work closely with the City of Santa Barbara to insure businesses owners have the resources needed to be successful.

Networking:
Throughout the year there are opportunities to network with the Downtown Organization Staff, Board of Directors and other members at semiannual mixers, the Annual Luncheon or through volunteer activities.

Get Involved:
Members are encouraged to meet the Board of Directors and get involved through the Downtown Organization committees. Committees include Promotions, Government Relations, Safety and Cultural.

Graffiti Removal:
In an effort to help beautify the Downtown area, the Downtown Organization provides free graffiti removal for its members. Members must complete the Graffiti Removal Agreement form. Click here and contact the DO office to schedule the graffiti removal. Every effort will be made for a member of the DO maintenance crew to come to your place of business to remove the graffiti within 24 hours. 

The DO has beige and white paints available to cover the graffiti. If the member has the exact paint match available, it will be used by the maintenance crew. However, the DO does not have the capability to paint match. We are not able to remove scratches from windows or graffiti painted on brick.  We do have the capability to remove some graffiti from concrete without painting.

Member Discounts:
Give & Get with Downtown Member Discounts. The DO offers a Member Discount Program to encourage downtown employees to shop downtown with enticing offers by members willing to pass on savings to other members. As a business, you can increase traffic by offering discounts to other DO members and their employees. A complete list of participating businesses and the discounts offered can be found here. Police Authority Letter:
The Downtown Organization and the Santa Barbara Police Department encourage all business owners to file and post an Authority Letter in the window of their place of business. This is an effective tool in helping law enforcement protect your property. Since the Authority Letter needs to be renewed every 180 days (twice yearly), the Downtown Organization will send out reminders via email on the Winter and Summer Solstices.  Click here to connect to the Santa Barbara Police Department for more information and to download the form.
