Design Matters: 2009 AIA Santa Barbara Design Awards. Every third year, a jury of renowned architects select the best of architectural design in Santa Barbara. This exhibition will feature award winning projects that lift the spirit, sustain natural resources and enhance the environment.
The County Arts Commision is debuting two new gifts from Barbara Strong: a mural by Ray Strong, Forces Gone Wild, Oil Spill and Mt. Pinos Pine, both oil on canvas, which have been installed in the hallway of the County Administration Building.

Forum Lounge at 7pm: Experimental theatre artist Susan Simpson uses intricate marionettes and unusual film projections to create captivating performances of puppet theatre. Simpson is co-founder of The Manual Archives, a micro theater and exhibition space devoted to the presentation of newly discovered and invented folklore of Los Angeles.

Internationally renowned pioneer of film and video art, Diana Thater, showcases Butterflies and Other People which is inspired by the Monarch Butterfly Project and coincides with the Monarch’s return to the Central Coast. Also, California Calling, an eclectic, inventive collection from artists who have lived and worked in California over the past sixty years.
